eScooter Theft Increasingly Common

In a normally quiet commuter town in Dublin, an e-scooter was taken from a commuter by masked men and Gardai are searching for them.

On Sunday during the evening, the incident happened at The Avenue in Ratoath.

The rider of the scooter was approached by the men, who wore black masks and dark clothes. The men took the scooter from the rider by force and then fled from the scene of the crime.

Gardai have distributed a picture of the scooter, which is a Ziaomi Mi Pro, in order to see if the public can aid in helping the victim retrieve the scooter.

The Gardai have stated: “The Xiaomi Mi scooter incident is currently being investigated by Ashbourne Gardai.”

“Three males in black masks and dark clothing, who are assumed to be in their late teens to early 20’s, encountered a young E-scooter rider on Sunday, Feb 21st, at 7:55pm in The Avenue, Ratoath.”

“Using force, the three men took the E-scooter from the young victim.”

“Witnesses who may have seen the incident or may have been around the location of the incident are currently being searched for by the Gardai. They are urged to contact the Gardai Confidential Line at 1800666111 or the Ashbourne Gardaí at 01-8010607 if they have any information.”
