Kugoo S1 Pro – Review

The Kugoo S1 is strongly promoted, which makes it an excellent Xiaomi M365 Pro competitor. The main reason for this being that it comes with similar but competitive features. For example, the scooter can be folded and built with a lightweight aluminum frame (measuring only 11 Kgs). It also features a crutch for easy parking.

This eScooter can support a weight of up to 120 Kg and equip with a 350 W motor and a 7.5 Ah battery. The battery must be charged for 4 hours to be full, and the motor has the power to reach a maximum speed of 30 Km/h. Its range is also 30 Km (of course, which will depend on a person’s weight). The scooter has the power to climb a slope of up to 15 degrees and features a 3-speed adjuster mode (the 15km/h, the 25km/h, and the 30km/h).

The adjuster gives a person or user the power to adjust their driving to match their ideal desire, even when used by children. It accommodates an adjustable height of 930mm, 1070mm, and 1160mm. This makes it easy for users to adapt it based on their actual height. It features magnetic brakes with energy recovery at the front and foot brakes for the rear. We stock the Kugoo S1 Pro here.

Kugoo S1 Pro- Packaging

One of the best things about the Kugoo S1 Pro is that there is no need to assemble it. That is because it comes already assembled and neatly folded in the box. Since it comes folded, we had to unfold it first before using it. The truth is that we were forced to use a bit of force because the object was tightly together. Needless to say, we took extra care during the whole process, even when we had to fold it again. The good thing is that practice really helped because tightening it forward and then pushing the pin and moving it back did require time.

While unfolding the scooter, the height must be adjusted, which is a feature that does not come with many other scooters.  Therefore, we had to adjust the three available height settings of 930mm, 1070mm, 1160mm. This feature makes it easy for different users to use it, ranging from 10-year-old to adults.

Before the first run, its battery must be fully charged, which takes about 4 hours. By looking at the Kugoo S1 pro, it seems to be nimbler compared to other scooters, but actually found out it has few elements ‘in my opinion’, that make the scooter stand out from the rest.

The first being that it is available in several colors, unlike many other scooters on the market. It can be found in these colors –  blue, pink, white, and black. It features a bight transparent LCD screen on the handlebar that can be used to monitor the speed, distance, battery status, and riding time. The handlebar itself is very easy and quick to fold, which is something that is quite obvious the moment the scooter is folded.

The foot stands that a user’s footrest on while riding is covered with a material that prevents slipping. Its wheels have been designed in a way that it does not need air or pumping. This makes it resistant to slipping and punctures.  It comes with a reflector for safe riding at night and efficient front and rear suspension.

Riding The Kugoo S1 Pro

This is not the first time for me to ride eScooter. As such, riding the Kugoo S1 Pro was not difficult for me at all. To anyone who has never ridden an eScooter before, riding one is very similar to riding an ordinary scooter. The first thing we wanted to test is the speed of the scooter. We are happy to report that the more we pressed the lever, the more the scooter will increase speed appropriately. For this reason, we first tested the steady acceleration from 15km/h all the way to 30km/h.

We found out that if a user is 70kg, it will maintain a speed of 28km/h precisely. Therefore, we can say that this is the maximum speed the Kugoo S1 Pro is capable of reaching. However, it is important to note that the top speed it can reach depends on several factors like the weather, terrain, weight, sloping, and others. Needless to say, anything above 25km/h is already fast, which can be a hazard if anything happens and you do not have protection.

While riding this eScooter, caution must be applied and advisable to ride at a moderate or slower speed. Do not forget to wear protective gear mainly those used in bicycles, like a helmet. Note, prevention is always better than treatment.

After the speed test, we next went on to see how it would perform on different terrains. During the first test, we noticed that the shocks worked extremely well, especially when it came to small bumps. While riding on paving, the speed of the scooter became slower, and the ride is no longer comfortable. The escooter riding became louder, and the vibrations increased despite having the shock absorbers. Comfort and fun only came while riding it on a smooth surface (it is the primary focus and purpose of this type of eScooter).

After the terrain test, we moved on to uphill rides to see how efficient it is and if it could handle the climb. To our amazement, the scooter handles uphill easily and effortlessly. As described, the Kugoo S1 Pro can handle uphill slops of up to 15 degrees. Although this is the case, it became slower. We found out that although it will handle the slop, it decreases in speed based on the angle of incline and the weight of the user.

KUGOO S1 PRO review

It rides nicely on curved roads as well, which is mainly made possible by its small tires and COG (center of gravity) range.  This allows a person to turn the curves at high speeds without the fear of falling.

After this, the next thing we tested was the dual braking system. We loved the braking system as it allowed us to brake both the front and rear similar to a classic scooter. This is a feature that assists with the whole braking process. The braking distance is promising both at high speed and at low speed. According to our finding, we saw that it only took 4m to stop while at high speed. This is a feature that separates Kugoo S1 Pro from the rest.

We finally decided to test its LCD for information regarding our ride. We realized that the management of the scooter went on smoothly mainly because the whole time the LCD screen display kept us informed regarding everything (such as how fast we were riding, our riding time, the battery meter, and how far we have traveled). According to the manufacturers, the battery has the capability of withstanding up to 30km. However, we were surprised to see the battery symbol turn red only after a few kilometers of testing.

When the battery warning light came on, we were sure that we will not be able to ride for long, but to our surprise we were wrong.  Despite the low battery warning, we managed to ride almost 13 kilometers more.

In the following runs and tests, the battery status was displayed more efficiently. However, based on our past experience, we learned that manufacturers’ state range is rarely achieved because it is almost impossible to achieve ideal conditions. As such, based on our findings, we learned that the real reach of an escooter’s battery is mainly half what manufacturers claim. For this reason, when it comes to Kugoo S1 Pro, be sure that it will achieve 15km under all conditions.

Safety when Using

Kugoo S1 Pro scooter manufacturers considered safety while designing this escooter. For this reason, it does not matter if you are riding in the dark, the front LED is wise and produces the best light illumination. It features a lot of reflectors that have been mounted on the handlebar, sides, and rear of the scooter. These reflectors are safety Red LED illuminated reflectors that indicate your position at night. For this reason, unlike other scooters, visibility at night is excellent.

It features also a horn that alerts others of your presence has been mounted on the handlebar. It is the button on the side of the screen. The truth is, although the position of it is not the best, having one is better than not having any. Sometimes its horn produces weak sound to a point where it cannot alert people. For this reason, we recommend installing additional louder horns or bells that will increase your safety while riding.

The manufacturer also considered the tires. Remember, tires that can be punctured or run-flat are not safe. Furthermore, their tires are made from a softer synthetic material that decreases slipping and allows a person to ride on different terrains or uneven surfaces. Due to small tires, they perform excellently on fast narrow turns. Its limitation is comfort because inflatable tires make riding a bit comfortable.

The thing to note is that its LCD screen works perfectly, and it is still visible during the day. Also, electronic braking functions as needed, especially at low speeds. While riding fast or traveling downhill, a user must use their foot to quickly break and push the bumper with the foot.  This is a feature that aids the braking system of the scooter. Remember, speed kills and may lead to severe injuries. For this reason, to us, riding the scooter at high speeds is unsafe because anything can happen, which can make you fall. Do not forget to wear protective gear like a helmet for your own safety. Remember, prevention is better than treatment. Take control of your riding situation to minimize the risks of injuries or damages.

The Kugoo S1 Pro has an IP54 standard, which simply means that it is resistant to dust and water. Therefore, there is no need to worry even when you are caught in the rain. This is something that manufacturers claim, but sadly we have not mages to test it. If you wish to look we have a selection of kids electric scooters in Ireland too.
